Matthew Lewis as Hugh Hulton

Actor Matthew Lewis as Hugh Hulton in PBS MASTERPIECE's All Creatures Great and Small

About the Character: A wealthy landowner, Hugh Hulton is handsome, agreeable, well respected and in many ways a good match for Helen Alderson. Childhood sweethearts, Hugh and Helen have grown up together, but there may be more to the relationship.

Where You’ve Seen Him Before: Lewis will be remembered for his portrayal of the valiant if clumsy Neville Longbottom in the Harry Potter film series. As an adult, he’s starred in TV series including Ripper Street, Girlfriends, and Happy Valley.

Fun Fact: Lewis tells Buzzfeed UK that he’s “got the whole Neville outfit from the final [Harry Potter] film. The trousers and the shirt and the cardigan, sort of covered in blood and burn marks and stuff.” And while Neville Longbottom was soft spoken, Lewis will speak up about things—things like his biggest pet peeve: “People who leave a bit of tea at the bottom of a mug. …Just drink the whole damn thing. What’s wrong with you? When I go and put it in the dishwasher, it goes everywhere!”
