Anna Madeley as Mrs. Hall

Actress Anna Madeley as Mrs. Hall in All Creatures Great and Small on PBS MASTERPIECE

About the Character: As the housekeeper, Audrey Hall is the engine that runs Skeldale House, ensuring Siegfried, Tristan and James have everything they need. She cares for the men like they’re her own family—and longs to be reunited with her own estranged son.

Where You’ve Seen Her Before: MASTERPIECE fans may recognize Madeley from her portrayal of forward-thinking Miss Ravillious on Mr. Selfridge—where she was castmates with Samuel West. And while her character is single in All Creatures Great and Small, Madeley has previously had some juicy roles as a spouse: She starred in the crime drama Deadwater Fell alongside David Tennant (Around the World in 80 Days), and played Benedict Cumberbatch’s long-suffering wife in the TV drama Patrick Melrose.

Fun Fact: A speech class propelled Madeley into acting at age seven, for the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). During Season 1, Madeley told the MASTERPIECE Studio podcast that her coach set her up for a few auditions. “I got to the RSC as a skeleton, which is clearly not the most central role in the show, but I actually loved it. Being backstage at the Barbican when I was seven, doing that, eating chips in the green room, and learning to play pool was part of the thrill.”
